I studied English Language and Literature at Newcastle University and after a short career in marketing, started teaching English in 2005.
I then worked in a high-achieving secondary school in Wiltshire, where I was Head of A-level English Language and was the Key Stage 3 Co-ordinator, until I left to have my second child.
I have a particular interest in, and passion for, English Language and being an examiner in this subject, can offer practical advice on how to achieve the best grades.
I have taught all abilities at GCSE and can help students achieve their target grade in ways that suit their learning styles.
I am currently taking a break from teaching whilst my children are small, but intend to return within the next few years, and continue to mark exam papers in both summer and winter.
I offer one-to-one tuition and can also provide sessions for small groups (2-3 students) in the evenings and at weekends, primarily at my home (Bishopthorpe) but I can also travel within the York area.
